PLC & Electrical Controls Engineer

 

Based Ayrshire

Working as a key part of a multi-disciplinary Electrical Installations Team, core duties will include:

 

  • Aiding the deployment and ongoing development of  proprietary CANbus installations (automotive Programmable Logic Circuit (PLC) systems).
  • Adjusting CANbus system parameters to suit customer requirements.
  • Developing software applications for new automotive electrical installations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of electrical work instructions, installation manuals, training notes etc.
  • Providing production staff with relevant drawings / information as and when required.
  • Assisting with the preparation of installation datasheets / harness and wiring drawings / project plans etc.
  • Mid-build and Final Build Inspections / Troubleshooting.
  • Feedback of design issues to the Electrical Installations Team.

 

Customer Liaison

  • Customer Visits throughout UK if required to rectify software faults / warranty issues.
  • Remote fault finding / troubleshooting on behalf of customer engineering staff.
  • Establishing customer specification / system requirements and compile parameter lists / datasheets / work instructions as required.

 

Skills & Knowledge

 

The successful applicant will have excellent programming skills, preferably with experience of Programmable Logic Circuits, CoDeSys programming and / or C, C++ etc.

 

PC literate, the successful applicant will be conversant with MS Excel and Word. CAD experience (AutoCAD and E3 Electrical Design) and familiarisation with PLC / CANbus programming environments would be beneficial but is not essential, as training can be provided.

 

Strong organisational and project management skills would be beneficial, as is the ability to train / educate staff members / electrician teams in the production environment. Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to develop and excel in new disciplines are a must.
