Procurement Specialist (12 months initially)

THE ROLE:

Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Procurement Specialist on a rolling contract basis expected to last initially 12 months (with probably extension well beyond that term).

This role involves dealing with a large number of suppliers to purchase high value capital equipment for major engineering projects within a process plant environment.

Duties to include:

  • Create and improve existing procurement strategies for all material and equipment within associated project remit, achieving cost reduction value and benefit to the company.
  • Diligent management of Purchase Order activities.
  • Build knowledge and relationships within supplier base and market generally to allow strong negotiation and ultimately costs savings and increased service levels.
  • Use influence to encourage procurement change and engagement across the sites and businesses.
  • Drive supplier performance.
  • Identify new potential suppliers.
  • Contribute positively to cost saving targets for contracts and orders under their control.

    • THE CANDIDATE:

  • Substantial purchasing experience within a technical engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Track record of dealing with high value projects/contracts.
  • Strong negotiation skills and supplier management experience.
  • MCIPS qualified or working towards desirable.
