Unique opportunity has arisen at the European Headquarters of Life Technologies near Glasgow for an ambitious driven individual to join the Financial Modeling and Analystics Team as a Senior Financial Analyst.

This newly created position within the EMEA Commercial Financial Planning & Analysis team is designed to bring the current analytical suite to the next level by adding advanced modeling tools and improving the productivity of the entire team. Reporting straight line into the Senior Consolidation Manager will hardwire the position into the entire continuum of FP&A processes while the dotted line reporting into the Finance Director and will ensure exposure to senior management problem solving.
Essential Functions:
- The role requires advanced analytical & modeling skills under a MS Excel environment so it's critical to have a high proficiency in VBA/macros and possibly prior experience in similar roles.
- The Senior Analyst will be exposed to a wide and highly technological portfolio within a fast moving market hence the need to apply rigorous analytical filters in order to manage the elevated level of complexity and transform data into actionable information.
- Interacting daily with the FP&A Managers of the different businesses within the LIFE franchise and under the leadership of the Senior Consolidation Manager, the candidate will have to develop both standard and ad-hoc analytical processes to enhance the ability of the entire team to provide valuable business insights.
- A significant portion of the job will be dedicated to develop and apply new forecasting tools to expand the current model and increase the amount of data-driven inputs used by the senior management to take tactical and strategic decisions.
- In addition to the specific tasks described above, the candidate will be able to support the wider team by enhancing the productivity of the current processes via MS Excel-based solutions designed to minimize time and/or increase the automation.
Experience/Requirements:
- The candidate must have very strong data management experience and master MS Excel advanced analytical functions (VBA programming required, exposure to other statistical tools is a plus) and exhibit interest in developing commercial awareness and judgment.
- The position does not require strong financial background but rather specific technical skills that may have been developed by an education focused on Statistics, Econometrics and Engineering/IT.
- OR:
- Equivalent work experience would be a 3 to 5 years Business Analyst/Programmer with high exposure to Business Intelligence suites (Cognos BI, Business Objects, Hyperion) and good knowledge around large ERPs (Oracle, SAP).
- Strong attitude toward problem-solving and data-driven change management.
- Flexibility, entrepreneurial spirit, positive “can do” attitude.
- Team player and customer oriented.
- Fluent English, both verbal and written.
- Good presentation skills are a plus
