>> We are looking for a resilient, flexible person with an empathic approach to enable unpaid carers to maximise their quality of life and wellbeing through assessment of their care and support needs and implementation of a support plan.

>> You have a good working knowledge of, and experience in, the field of community working with unpaid carers, older people and people with a physical disability. A good communicator both written and verbal, you have a minimum of Standard Grade / GCSE level coupled with basic IT skills. As well as being committed to working with unpaid carers of older people and people with a physical disability in an anti-discriminatory manner you also have the ability to travel within Aberdeenshire.

>> This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Job Purpose

>> To develop purposeful relationships with individuals and their families and assist in identifying aspirations and needs.

>> To enhance the participation of people with community care needs in community life by developing and co-ordinating support and information systems and resources. The client group will vary according to the community care team of the Local Area Co-ordinator.

>>To link people with community care needs and their families to community resources and public services.

>> To work under the direction of Social Workers/Care Managers to enable service users with more complex needs to maximise their quality of life and independence.


Main Tasks


  • Develop and establish local networks with the statutory, voluntary and business sectors
  • Ascertain information about the aspirations and needs of people with community care needs according to care group
  • Link the aspirations and needs of people with community care needs to local networks and services
  • Monitor & review the quality of networks and services set up
  • Maintain records on individuals
  • Management and supervision
  • Understanding financial assessments for services
  • Other tasks as agreed
