Our client, a leading Logistics Provider to the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry are looking for an Assistant Transport Manager to join the team at their Peterhead Operation.

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for the day to day management and operation of the Transport Department ensuring delivery of a high quality service to both internal and external clients.

 

You will be responsible for supervising a multi-disciplined team including 80 drivers, be commercially aware with a high customer focus and have a sound understanding of HSEQ and transport legislation.  You will also assist the Operations Manager in the compilation of performance reports, KPIs and ensure budgetary obligations are met by maximising profits and controlling costs.

 

Role and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-Present a positive image of the company through first class service delivery and customer engagement.

-Endeavour to achieve customer satisfaction in accordance with Service Level Agreements, answering queries and resolving issues as necessary.

-Liaising with relevant internal departments to ensure prompt and efficient return of materials to vendors and contractors.

-To assist the Operations Manager in the compilation of weekly and monthly department performance reports explaining variances to budget, service level agreements and key performance indicators.

-Ensure budgetary obligations are met, by maximising profit and controlling costs.

-Demonstrating safety leadership and ensuring that the HSEQ policy is adhered to.

-Chair safety meetings to promote safety culture and performance.

-Ensure compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes

-Assist in the performance of HR functions including recruitment, appraisals, disciplinary and grievance procedures.

-Ensure that HR policies and procedures are implemented across the department.

-Accurately record and control employees working hours/ holidays/ sickness/ overtime.

-Assist the Operations Manager with Union related matters and negotiations as required.

 

Skills/qualities required but are not limited to:

-Innovation and initiative.

-Customer focussed.

-Operationally aware.

-Good oral and written communication skills.

-IT literate.

-Effective at planning and prioritising workload.

-Certificate of professional competence in road haulage.

-Previous experience within Transport Logistics environment.

-HSEQ related qualification.

-Strong Leadership and Union Workforce knowledge.

-Driving Licence.

-Experience of managing people.

 

This is a full time, permanent staff position offering an excellent remuneration package.
