Field Engineer / Field Technician

Sand Monitoring Services (SMS) Ltd

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join SMS - a rapidly growing and developing business, working within a specialist niche market. Sand Monitoring Services (SMS) Ltd is an independent company and uniquely specify, supply and commission both acoustic and intrusive sand monitoring systems to the oil and gas industry. 

We are looking for a Field Engineer or a Field Technician to provide sand monitoring services - providing well services sand detection in acoustic and intrusive sand monitoring. This is a developmental role and full training, educational courses and development support will be provided to enable the right candidate fulfill this exciting and challenging role. Offshore travel is fundamental to this role so candidates must be eager, willing and able to fulfill this requirement.

A varied role with a mixture of offshore and office work with the potential to develop in to a project related engineering role.  There is also future potential for international travel. A period of training for the successful field engineer / technician until they are deemed competent in SMS field operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Pre – Job testing
  • Equipment Preparation & Packaging
  • Work Pack Preparation
  • Offshore site visits
  • Liaising with client
  • Set up & installation of temporary sand monitoring systems for well service applications
  • Data Collection & Analysis & Reporting
  • Completion of FPAL Customer Feedback forms
  • Providing commissioning services as part of team

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum HND qualification in a relevant Engineering or Geoscience discipline.
  • Some field experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the equipment (intrusive sand / corrosion monitoring & acoustic sand monitoring instrumentation) would be advantageous as well as a background in well services, particularly well testing (data acquisition) or mudlogging. 
  • You will have a logical and analytical mind, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to handle pressure. The ideal candidate should possess a strong aptitude for learning.  A good sense of humour and down to earth attitude are also essential.
