The mechanical designer designs new products and makes improvements to existing products using computer aided design (CAD) and inventor. May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability and ensure project completion. Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner.
Experience/Qualifications Required
Experience in 2D & 3D Design Packages, Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD preferred
HNC or equivalent in mechanical engineering
4 years experience in the Oil & Gas industry, subsea experience preferable.
Experience with geometric tolerancing, cladding & welding symbols to BSEN22553"
Familiar with current Oil & Gas practise's and procedures
Attention to detail
Ability to work as a team player and/or with minimal guidance
Fast learner Understanding of mechanical principles (force, torque, deflection, stress, yield, etc.)
Key Areas of Responsibility
Creation of complex 3D Models and Drawings from raw material through to top level assemblies, including detail drawings for manufacture, weldments, assemblies, layouts, interface drawings & GA's
Work closely with engineer/project manager to deliver a high quality product
Liaise with 3rd parties and customers to get specific order requirements
Ability to create complex multi-level bills of materials, including material selection
Assist engineering in the development of products by producing concept designs and providing input to design reviews.
Maintain drawings, BOMs and other engineering paperwork in an orderly manor per drawing office practice
Provide input to planning meetings to accurately provide expected durations of assigned tasks
