NHS 24 is Scotland’s provider of national Telehealth and Telecare services. As a Call Handler, you will be a key point of contact for callers. You will collect and record information, identifying people in need of an immediate response, direct callers to clinical colleagues for further assessment or health information or to other NHS services.
You must be committed to delivering a high standard of customer service and weekend and public holiday working is essential. To be considered for this role you must provide evidence in your application of outstanding communication, interpersonal and team-working abilities, and the ability to cope under pressure. You will have excellent IT skills and good typing skills. Essential to the role is the ability to demonstrate experience of excellent customer care, and an interest in healthcare.

Rota are worked on a flexible basis, varying every 8 week period. All 18 hours rotas will involve night shift working. For all rotas based in Clydebank and Aberdeen there will be a requirement for work within the in hours period, 8am-6pm.
All other hours are predominately worked in the out of hours period (5pm to 8am), with 5 from 8 weekends as standard for 18 hour rotas. Candidates choosing to apply for 12 and 16 hour rotas will be weekend only workers, working 8 out of 8 weekends. (The only exception to this will be for public holiday cover.) All rotas will include cover for public holidays including Christmas, New Year, Easter and public holidays taken by other Health Boards.
Where you chose to combine working with NHS 24 and another employer, you should note that NHS 24 strictly adheres to the Working Time Directive regulations of staff working no more than 48 hours per week on average across all employments.
