87474 - Project Accountant

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Project Accountant, based in Rosyth.

Job Description

Reporting to the Design Services Financial Controller North, the Project Accountant will work closely with project managers and key stakeholders in project financial maintenance and interrogation. They will also assist in the project aspects of monthly reporting, you may on occasion be required to travel to other Design Services locations as required

  • Support project managers over various sites in monitoring, controlling and reporting progress on their projects, ensuring standard project reports are up to date and accurate.
  • Reconciliation and upload of hours from the business applications system (IFS) on a weekly basis.
  • Raise project invoices; in a timely manner with appropriate back-up supplied in support of work carried out to our customer, to avoid any potential delays in payment.
  • Maintain project trading file with up to date project details and forecasts. Ensuring robust and accurate data.
  • Maintain company order book, working closely with business development to ensure timely receipt of new contract awards. Monitoring closely and updating business pipeline for future contracts.
  • Attend project initiation meetings and monthly/ quarterly project reviews.
  • Assist in the month end management accounts process.
  • Assess project monthly accruals / prepayments.
  • Raise intercompany claims.
  • Review of month end IFS reports, purchase orders, subcontract invoices etc.
  • Prepare project turnover and margin uplifts to financial accounts, based on latest updated forecasts.
  • Review WIP report and trading.
  • Involved in preparation of project information for budget and forecast exercises.
  • Involvement in cost modelling for tenders where appropriate.

  • Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant or working towards qualification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Practical experience in long term contract accounting and knowledge of the commercial management process from initiation to completion and close out.
  • Ability to build relationships with project managers.
  • Confidence and strength to challenge key stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • A self starter with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of team.
  • Industry experience preferred

  • This is a permanent position.
