Monday to Thursday 9.00am to 5.00pm

A rare opportunity has arisen to work at the heart of a dynamic and thriving manufacturing business, assisting senior management in developing and selling a unique range of engineered thermostatic control products to worldwide markets.
Our client, Horne Engineering Limited, is an independent, privately owned company, which is seeking a self-motivated Sales & Applications Engineer to be based at its busy head office situated in Johnstone, near Glasgow.
The company’s core activity is in providing products for the temperature control of domestic water services, typically in hospitals, schools and large public buildings.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a basic all round knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering, preferably with some experience in Building Services and knowledge of the requirements of the Healthcare and Local Authority sectors.
Alternatively this role would suit an Engineering Graduate, looking to start a rewarding career in this industry or an existing Customer Sales Executive with knowledge of selling technical products.
The candidate should be a strong team player and must be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, be computer literate, whilst having the ability and personality to integrate into a small close-knit team.
The right candidate has to possess good computer skills, a good knowledge of mechanical engineering, an ability to problem solve as well as an aptitude and a willingness to learn new things. It is essential that you have the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
The Role:
Office based, you will be an important part of the sales function, providing support to the UK sales team and overseas agents. Duties will include providing an efficient and high quality sales service (by telephone, email or in writing) to customers by assisting in product selection, and supplying prices and project quotations to contractors, local authorities, NHS Trusts and other end users. You will be a key customer support contact as a telephone based Applications Engineer, assisting with correct product recommendations, trouble shooting, site referrals and liaising with the external sales team in helping resolve any technical issues that may arise.
You will make a positive and pro-active contribution to the achievement of sales and service standards befitting this market leader.
What’s Required:
A relevant degree, HND, NVQ or other vocational qualification would be an advantage. Alternatively, experience in a similar role within the mechanical services industry or with a manufacturer, distributor, contractor or consulting engineer would also be considered.
