Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Firmware and Electronics Engineer, based in Inverness.

Candidate must have previous experience with Embedded Design or Micro Controllers as well as Product Lifecycle experience.

Job Description

  • Highly Autonomous strategic Project Management role (at Staff Level)
  • Responsible for: Design (and associated upfront documentation), overseeing the development, Transitioning the piece back into company (post development), Assessing whether the requirements have been met
  • Undertaking Vendor Management - Primarily remotely (vendors based in UK, Europe, USA and China)
  • Some Man management responsibility (level dependant) and supporting the development of the wider team

  • Skills & Experience

  • Firmware Engineer
  • Solid Project Management Experience (Staff Level) with an appreciation of PM methodologies. PMO or Prince2 certification ideal
  • Good embedded SW development lifecycle exposure
  • SW debug skills, C C++ and assembler knowledge - Essential
  • Understanding of mixed signal microcontroller based product design
  • Experience of RISC 16/32 bit processors/microcontrollers essential
  • Communications protocols - 12C/SPI, serial and USB , (Bluetooth & wireless desirable)
  • Use of the following tools: Doors, CaliberRM, IBM RequisitePro - Desirable
  • Development experience around mobile phone applications and Bluetooth technologies - Desirable
  • Electronics Engineer
  • Simulation Experience (P-Spice) - Essential
  • OrCad Schematic capture
  • CCT design and layout
  • Low power Micro Controller Unit
  • Ability to write clear requirements
  • Risk management tools for project and technical
  • Knowledge of semi-conductor silicon technology would be highly desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status - desirable
  • Design for six sigma methodology experience - desirable
  • Self aware
  • Strong/Confident personality
  • Ready to take ownership and challenge others
  • Passionate about the subject matter - Focussed on personal development - An interest in staying on top of technology innovations
  • Customer focussed and comfortable with the 'hands-off' vendor management approach to the development - BUT capable of being hands-on when required and close enough to the technology to remain credible at all times

  • This is a permanent position.
