Eden Scott's client is looking to recruit a Design Engineer for their client based in Dyce.

JOB PURPOSE
To ensure that products and services meet the required quality standards, by designing and developing new, or modifications to existing, products to meet actual or anticipated customer needs.This position is one of the main points of contact between the Sales, who determine the product requirements and Manufacturing. The role is measured by the accurate interpretation of product requirements into effective designs / drawings which can be used to manufacture products against time and quality requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

"Preparation of design packages for design review.
"Attending and (where appropriate) lead design reviews.
"Preparation of test procedures, carrying out appropriate liaison with the Assmbly personnel on test programmes.
"Disposition of both manufacturing and field non conformance reports.
"Modify existing products to meet internal or external customer requirements.
"Production and maintenance of engineering drawings for use in the manufacture, assembly, and testing of products using CAD systems.
"Development and maintenance of bills of materials to ensure correct manufacture of tools.
"Provide assistance in the assembly and maintenance of engineering files and other technical files.
"Assess cost implications of design changes or new designs, informing projected costs to the Engineering Manager.
"Complete necessary work within the Windchill [PDM] System.
"Will be required to travel locally as required to liaise with Manufacturing, Product Line and Sales personnel as necessary.
"May be required to travel nationally/internationally, to support product development testing and / or Product Line engineering effort.
"Will be required to participate in the On-Call Rota.
"Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential
"Must possess an HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
Preferred
"Ideally should have a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.

EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCE

Essential
"Must have proven relevant experience in Oil and Gas related manufacturing environment ideally in a design or project engineering role.
"Must have knowledge of metallic and elastomer materials technology.
"Must have knowledge of applicable National and International Design Standards.
"Must have a working knowledge of Rig Systems and Production/Drilling Operations and a full understanding of down-hole hydraulics.

Preferred
"Relevant engineering experience gained in an Oil and Gas manufacturing environment.
"Experience of Pro-Engineer and AutoCAD, as related to down hole tool technology.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

Essential
"Must have good Communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to work in a team environment.
"Must have proven technical problem solving ability.
"Must have the ability to effectively utilise dedicated resources, to plan, control, and take responsibility for own work.
"Must have basic keyboard skills, and a working knowledge of CAD and other computer systems
