Validation Engineer - Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical / Medical Devices - Edinburgh Base Salary c£33-38,000 + Benefits.

Based in Edinburgh, Edgar Stewart's client is a well-established bio-manufacturing organisation, with an internationally recognised product portfolio. The product range includes in vitro diagnostics for use in clinical laboratories throughout the world. The organisation also offers contract services to the bioscience industry and currently manufactures products for major global players in the Life Sciences sectors. They now need to make the key hire of a Validation Engineer.

Reporting into the Validation Manager, the Validation Engineer will play a crucial role validating new processes, systems and equipment, as part of a sustained technology and manufacturing ramp-up. Some other key responsibilities will include:

  • Ongoing validation and qualification activities of existing equipment, systems and processes.
  • Execution of scheduled activities to plan and in compliance with existing internal policies and procedures - Validation Studies; Revalidation Studies; and Ongoing Risk Assessment Activity.
  • Interface between Quality Assurance - Validation and all operational areas to ensure validation issues communicated effectively.
  • Management of all validation documentation.
  • Involvement, as required, as Subject Matter Expert in Validation during internal and external audits (regulatory and client).

    • Educated to HND/Degree calibre in an engineering or scientific discipline, you are a proven life sciences, biotechnology, medical devices or pharmaceutical validation specialist. We will also look at candidates from other highly regulated environments. Candidates will have sound experience of thermal mapping exercises and standard lab techniques. We would be especially keen to hear from candidates used to managing NPI or NPD validation projects, or those candidates who have helped validate systems and equipment as part of a new factory build.
