Role:

·         Working on the Machine Shop floor, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Machine Shop and be responsible for carrying out the Assistant Machine Shop Manager’s instructions during his absence or during nightshift.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Oversee the smooth and efficient production of components by operators on the CNC Lathes to supplied drawings, within tolerance and within an acceptable time

·         Ensure sign-off of operation control cards by operators is completed on each component

·         Ensure all work is completed to the standards as set out in the company Quality Manual and Operating Procedure manual

·         Ensure daily checks of the accuracy of in process gauges used on the production of components are carried out by operators

·         Ensure time worked on every job is recorded on operator’s daily timesheet and pass to the Machine Shop Supervisor

·         Ensure daily checks of machine lubrication and hydraulic oil levels are carried out and report any faults to the Machine Shop Supervisor/Maintenance

·         Ensure machine and surrounding work areas are cleaned and tidy at end of shift and all gauges are returned to the inspection gauge room

·         Carry out/supervise set-ups on CNC machines to ensure quality and efficiency in the subsequent batch run i.e. monitor CMM results and adjust as required to keep production within the required quality and productivity rates

General:

·         Progress all individual role targets and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as agreed during annual appraisal

·         Programme editing as required during setups

·         Operation of machines as required for absence cover

QA:

·         Ensure all QA and departmental procedures and policies are adhered to in order to maintain the quality standard BS EN ISO 9001:2000

 

Additional Responsibilities:

·         Deputise for the Supervisor during his absence or during nightshift

·         Provide training to Apprentices and new Operators to ensure correct standard of workmanship is required to maintain quality standards

·         Troubleshoot and rectify problems on machines as they arise and, in the event such problems cannot be rectified immediately, to report any remedial work required as necessary

·         Address any infringements of Company health and safety policy directly with Machine Shop personnel and report repeated infringements to the Machine Shop Supervisor

·         Develop self within role including keeping abreast of programming updates on Edgecam

·         Organize material movements within the Machine Shop to ensure no down-time on machines

·         Create and maintain good working relationships

·         Remain flexible in approach

HSE:

·         Fulfil responsibilities under the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and ensure so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of the team.  In particular give full attention to:

¨      Risk Assessments/COSHH Assessments and the control measures identified therein

¨      Compliance with all HSE warning and information signs

¨      Compliance with all Company assigned PPE requirements

·         Fulfil responsibilities with all Company Environmental Initiatives, in particular:

¨       Waste segregation – paper, metals, wood, oils etc
