Technical Authority responsible for the integrity, development and leadership of the relevant
Engineering/Design Discipline and advice on the effective co-ordination of all discipline resources
To carry out professional engineering activities in a highly competent and efficient manner and ensure
that the technical and safety integrity of the engineering is maintained while completing the tasks within
allocated time
This role will normally be part time corporate role in conjunction with billable project work, likely as Lead
Engineer.
Main Responsibilities
Technical Authority responsible for the integrity of the relevant discipline Procedures and Processes
Accountable for the technical quality and integrity of the work carried out by the discipline group
Pro-actively identify methods for increasing efficiency
Provide guidance in technical matters and ensure that the disciplines are aware of and are working
to current engineering standards and procedures
Provide guidance to the Discipline Engineers, Designers, Graduates and Trainees
Provide assistance in identifying the relevant Discipline Engineering/Design resources
Assist Project Resources Manager in optimising the deployment of engineering skills/resources
across projects
Promote a learning and development culture within the Engineering function. Ensure that
appropriate guidance on training is provided to Engineers in support of individual development plans
Ensure lessons learned are captured and shared for future
Provide professional contribution and advice to other companies. Network and share
knowledge as appropriate
Keep abreast of industry and legislative developments
Provide guidance to the Structured Development Programme with the aim of gaining correct
experience to attain I Eng or C Eng status
Provide assistance in the appraisal process for the relevant engineering discipline
Qualifications
Educated to degree level in engineering and either Chartered or Incorporated Engineer
Associate or Member of Professional Engineering Institute
Specific Training / Specialist Skills
In depth understanding of the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry
Demonstrable technical expertise within the relevant discipline
Experience
Demonstrable experience of delivering at similar level
Previous experience in managing an engineering discipline
Experienced in the use of industry standard analysis programs, e.g, ASAS, SESAM,
Abaqus
Experience in mentoring graduate engineers
Experience in managing structural projects, liaising with clients, work planning,
estimating and manhour control
Personal Skills
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
Good presentation and communication skills
Personable
Self motivated
