Reporting to the Adult Services Manager, you will be the Lead Officer for Adult Protection.
Main duties of the post include: providing support to senior managers ensuring that the quality and performance management of Adult Protection work delivered by Social Work is to a high standard; providing support and advice of complex cases to managers and practitioners; working closely with the Lead Officer of the Adult Protection Committee, Interagency Trainer and the social work training team to ensure that Social Work staff are equipped to carry out adult protection work effectively; producing reports briefing Policy Boards and elected members as required and supporting Social Work in responding to consultations.
You will also contribute to the production, circulation and implementation of procedures and guidance to Social Work staff; respond to and participate in investigations, complaints and case review activity; lead audit activity within Social Work and collaborate on interagency self evaluation
It is essential that you have a degree or professional qualification in social work; experience in adult protection and adult services; possess competent IT and effective verbal, written, organisational and planning skills; have the ability to work collaboratively with partener agencies at all levels; be able to work on occasional evenings/weekends when required and be registered with the SSSC.
Experience in mental health or as a Mental Health Officer is desirable.Full training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the service’s commitment to continuous improvement. This position is covered by The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 (“the PVG Act”) and has been designated as carrying out regulated work with a child or protected adult under the terms of the Act. Consequently individuals who are named on the Disqualified from Working with Children/Adults Lists will commit an offence if they apply for this post and may face prosecution.
