SALES / BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE (LIFE SCIENCES / CRO / BIOTECHNOLOGY / PHARMA) OTE £60-90K PLUS PACKAGE - BASED CENTRAL SCOTLAND

Based in Central Scotland, Edgar Stewart's client is an expanding international drug delivery company that develops innovative drug delivery solutions using its platform of proprietary technologies. The company has evolved into a global player in the development and application of liquid fill encapsulation technologies that are supported by modern and commercial scale manufacturing facilities. They have recently created a new role and need to recruit a Sales / Business Development Executive to be based from Scotland, and willing to travel across Europe.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Sales / Business Development Executive will plan and carry out direct sales activities primarily in Europe, so as to maintain and develop sales of our client's collaborative R&D services in accordance with agreed business plans. Some of your core responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and carry out direct sales activities to agreed budgets, sales volumes, values, product mix and timescales.
  • Respond to and follow up sales enquiries by e-mail, telephone, and personal visits as appropriate.
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support, and liaison with internal Development Services staff.
  • In liaison with finance, technical and Development Services team (primarily Project managers) prepare proposals for new collaborative development prospects.
  • Present the same to current and potential clients and close agreements.
  • In consultation with Development Services, ensure that project milestones are defined and deliverables to customers are met using MS Project as a planning tool.
  • Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information to other parts of the organisation.
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
  • Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.

  • Educated to HND / Degree calibre preferably, within a scientific or business related background, you are a proven sales and business development specialist from a biotechnology, pharmaceutical or life sciences Customer Research Organisation (CRO). This will suit candidates used to winning and agreeing collaborative contracts / sales at Phases I-III (1-3) in the drug discovery development life cycle. We would be especially keen to hear from any candidates who have an understanding of the technical issues involved with drug development and drug delivery from new chemical entity onwards.

    You are able and willing to travel both within the UK and internationally, and to work extended hours when required. In return, you can expect to join a thriving and fast growing Scottish life sciences CRO operation. On target earnings are likely to be between £60-80k dependent on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
