Management Accountant with HBJ Gateley
The Role:
Job Title: Management Accountant
Department: Finance
Primary Location: Edinburgh
Reports to: Financial Controller
Key Purpose:
To assist the Financial Controller in ensuring effective financial management, reporting and controls within the Firm.
Key Accountabilities:
· Preparation of the monthly management accounts, P&L and Balance Sheet
· Full variance analysis of monthly accounts and departmental profitability analysis
· Preparation and submission of VAT Returns
· Ensuring balance sheet control accounts are reconciled
· Preparation of annual budgets, cash flow forecasts and quarterly re-forecasts
· Preparing and ensuring accuracy of operational reports
· Reporting on firms cash position on a daily basis
· Providing guidance to Heads of Department and other partners in relation to departmental financial information
· Preparing client profitability analysis
· Preparing financial information for tenders
· Monthly overhead allocations
· Creating, maintaining and developing financial models as required
· Ensuring Accounts Payable invoices are correctly coded
· Year end work in preparation for and liaison with auditors
· Preparation of Recharge Invoices as per Service Agreements
· Maintenance and reconciliation of intercompany positions
· Other ad-hoc work as required by the financial controller
Skills and Knowledge Required:
· Professional accountancy skills and experience of financial management within a professional services environment
· Part qualified and/or actively working towards qualification (CIMA/ACCA/CA)
· A professional and proactive approach and ability to command respect from senior people with the Firm
· Excellent communication skills
· Good team working skills
· Ability to prioritise workload and to use initiative
· Willingness to adapt approach where required
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Computer literacy including proficiency in using MS Office and experience of dedicated accounting software
· Flexibility – ability and willingness to work out with normal working hours as and when necessary and to assist other members of the team as and when required
