An exciting vacancy has arisen with MR Associates, an expanding legal consultancy firm based in Greenock. As Head of Legal Services you will manage and develop our new Legal Services Team with initial responsibility for three to four individuals.

MR Associates is one of the leading companies in the UK offering professional services to Supported Housing Providers who need advice, training and other help with the Housing Benefit Scheme and Social Security Tribunals. Whilst you will inherit a brimming client portfolio, you will be expected to generate new business.

Salary, hours and holidays

The successful candidate will be offered:

  • A full-time permanent position
  • A basic salary of up to £45,000
  • Holiday entitlement is 35 days a year rising to 40 days from April 2013 (holidays include a compulsory shutdown between the Christmas and New Year period)

Experience and responsibility

You must be either a barrister, solicitor or advocate who has a proven and established track record of working in the welfare benefits field, and in particular housing benefit. Your position with MR Associates will be ‘non-practising’ which means you will not be held out as a practising barrister, solicitor or advocate.

You will build a successful Legal Services Team which you will manage in terms of performance, budget, strategic development and improvement. Your team will deliver a professional service in our three core business areas of advice, training and advocacy. You will have extensive experience in managing a team of legally qualified staff and will be expected, from day one, to take the lead on fee earning and managing a demanding case-load.

Is there anything else I need to know?

You will be based at our office in Greenock and will be in the envious position of being able to build upon existing structures and past successes with a healthy client portfolio.

We pride ourselves on our ethos centred on honesty, integrity and hard work. The reason we are expanding is because we do our very best for our clients and know how to cultivate job satisfaction in a friendly office environment. Our retention rate is currently 100%.
