Outreach Development Officer

Temporary (Fixed term contract for 2 years)

Possible secondment opportunity for internal staff

RNIB Scotland are pleased to announce this exciting new post in Ayrshire & Arran. Through the Joint Sensory One Stop Service project, you will support the independence and social inclusion of people with a sight loss by developing a peripatetic service and events where you will provide information, advice, emotional support and demonstration of aids to daily living within a community setting. You will also work alongside Action on Hearing Loss Scotland by raising awareness of sensory loss, signposting and onward referral of service users with sensory loss.

You will have a qualification in rehabilitation studies, nursing, OT or significant other qualification. Experience of working with people with sight loss and recent experience of working in a similar role, or other community based social/health care role working directly with service users, is essential. You will also have good communication and organisation skills, together with being a proficient user of databases and Microsoft Office packages.

Appointment is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG Scheme) and appropriate check.
