Life Technologies currently has a vacancy for an Associate Buyer/Planner at its European Headquarters in Paisley near Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic individual to join a fast paced global Life Sciences organisation.

The principal objective of the Demand Requirements Planner is to ensure that we have the correct inventory available of finished goods in the correct place at the correct time, whilst optimizing inventory levels with regards to backorders, inventory and stock write offs. This is achieved with continuous process improvement, using data, solid operating mechanisms and close collaboration with key partners along the global supply chain.

Order Processing

Place orders with intercompany suppliers for Global warehouses.
Place orders to manage inventory transfers Globally
Measure supplier order fulfillment
Manage existing open orders vs. Business Requirements: ie MRP Cancels and Defers.
Backorders

Perform Daily Backorder updates, including all relevant information (e.g. reason codes)
Liaise with suppliers to identify earliest possible supply date
Provide delivery dates to Customer Service
Look for opportunities to clear backorders through e.g. alternative warehouse, alternative products, direct shipping, and S Hold product.
Manage discontinued or aged backorders on a routine basis
Inventory

Execute Lifecycle Management process to identify products with too much inventory, products approaching expiration, slow moving products, in order to optimize inventory, reducing backorders and write offs.
Continuously monitor safety stock levels in conjunction with Demand Analysts
Write Off

Review all product write offs (assign reason codes) and implement measures to prevent future occurrence.
Forecasts

Perform abnormal demand reviews routinely to proactively ensure safety stocks and forecasts reflect changing demand patterns in conjunction with Demand Analysts.
Freight

Perform day to day freight in management, ensuring warehouses are aware of incoming shipments, shipments are received on time and invoices are approved


Other

Understand all planning parameters and their impact on the planning process
Cross training within department to ensure maximum flexibility
Participate in cross functional improvement projects
Participate in new acquisition integration projects
Monitor KPI's and take proactive action when necessary.
Update PS portfolio to represent any changes that occur within your Primary Site
Nature and Scope:

Inv planner will report directly to the DRP Manager and will adhere to departmental SOP's as appropriate.
Education:

Educated to minimum HNC level. Experience within DRP environment would be advantageous.

Experience:

Knowledge of DRP systems is preferred. Experience in purchasing / dealing with vendors would be advantageous. Good communication skills are essential. Experience in busy supply chain environment.

Contacts:

The incumbent has contact with all levels of company employees within various internal departments, European sites, U.S. offices as well as frequent interaction with vendors and freight carriers.

Working Conditions:

Works in a modern open planned office. Long periods of sitting at a PC are required.
