West Dunbartonshire Transitions Project in partnership with SHARE and funded by the Big Lottery

Opportunities in this project are situated in a variety of areas in and around West Dunbartonshire.

 

The unique roll of Volunteer Buddy/Mentor adds an important extra dimension to the lives of the people we support by extending and enhancing their individual circle of support and broadening the opportunities and experiences available to them. This project works with young people with learning difficulties,  Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD or Autism, they are between the ages of 13 – 19 years and we aim to facilitate a smooth transition from school life into further education or work life by providing increased community involvement, a wider network of friends and increasing self confidence and motivation. All Buddies will be appropriately matched to individuals with similar likes and interests and given induction training to the organisation including our policies and any mandatory training requirement plus a named contact/support person and monthly meetings for supervision  A review is held after 6 months.

 

This particular opportunity requires an outgoing personality and the confidence to support someone with these challenges in and around the local community. Patience coupled with understanding will make you the right person for this opportunity.

 

We require 2 - 4 hours a week commitment for a minimum period of 6 months

 

Travel expenses and reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
