88187 - Material Planning Engineer
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Material Planning Engineer, based in Helensburgh.
Job Description
Generate and control part numbers for materials to be held in stock defining technical characteristics and the required MRP control levels. Manage part number maximum and minimum stock holding logic in IFS. Interface with Procurement to ensure that Supplier to Part relationships are developed and that Inventory Parts are systematically linked to Purchase Parts. Liaise with MoD to obtain paternised materials in a timely fashion. Ensure that material demand is driven by work orders. Manage disposition of redundant and unconsumed stocks. Monitor availability of materials demanded from MoD and highlight lead time issues. Detail the technical material requirements to suppliers and invite them to quote for the material supply. Answer any technical queries made by the suppliers and specify the quality requirements for the materials considering the application. Procure materials using IFS wherever possible for materials not supported by the MoD. Ensure that materials are issued to the Maintenance Teams as soon as available Arrange for repair of defective materials where this is a cost effective option in lieu of purchase new. Engage with Sub contractors to define work that requires their support. Ensure that risk assessments, quality statements and any certification we require is clearly detailed. Ensure that PO's are closed when the contractor has completed their contracted tasks to a satisfactory quality standard. Manage hiring of plant and equipment using IFS to ensure that we return on hire items as soon as possible. Manage and track items sent to contractors for repair. Coordinate and control Loan tools, STAT testing and Calibration activity. Control loan tools utilising Process developed in IFS. Manage work orders for STAT testing of equipment, coordinate mustering of equipment to be tested, delivery to the test area and ensure timely return to the end users. Control timely calibration of equipment by setting up control parameters in IFS. Ensure that items procured are tested where required in line with base procedures. Skills & Experience
HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a suitable planning discipline. Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (in particular Material Requirements Planning). A practical engineering knowledge is required to support the technical evaluation and identification of parts and to ensure effective communication with customers and sub contractors. Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This is a permanent position.
The salary for this position is negotiable.
