Location:Aberdeen
Reporting to the Asset superintendent, the Operations Support Engineer is responsible for the development, co-ordination and control of major engineering/upgrade work including assisting and giving input to financial, logistical and HS&E functions.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
*Reviewing rig modification requests and ensuring the development of work plans which shall include project costs/budget, scope of work, engineering calculations and design sketches, and co-ordinating the internal approval process for same.
*Creating approved modification requests work files and managing project progress through purchasing, construction, installation, commissioning and close-out of the relevant works; providing a regular status update on each project.
*Assisting the Purchasing function in order to ensure that proper specifications and certification are applied in the procurement of equipment and/or fabrication services.
*Co-ordinating and organising major upgrade works and/or shipyard visits in order to provide localised support to the engineering function in effecting timely and cost effecting timely and cost effective remedial action.
*Monitoring, co-ordinating and inspecting (where appropriate) fabrication sites and works prior to acceptance of orders.
*Providing engineering assistance to operational employees in resolving deficiencies and/or queries raised during regulatory inspections and/or Group audits, and liaising with support functions to ensure effective and timely solutions.
*Working on the development and implementation of Safety Cases including participation in risk assessment studies and verification scheme aspects. This responsibility shall include the development of contract specific bridging interface documents and/or joint operations procedures manuals.
*Conducting technical appraisals and reviewing studies on drilling, mechanical and structural systems to determine safety, operational and cost impacts of utilisation within the appropriate drilling operations.
*Reporting on a regular basis and providing future work forecasts of all involved activities.
Personal Attributes:
*Degree Qualified in an Engineering discipline, ideally with at least two years experience.
*Excellent communications, both oral and written with experience in report writing.
*Highly developed presentation skills.
*Innovative and able to quickly adapt to new challenges.
*Oil & Gas experience advantageous but NOT necessary.
