About East Ayrshire Council
Our core values are Quality, Equality, Access and Partnership. Central to these values is a commitment to combating all forms of discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity. As an employer and provider of services, we actively promote diversity and equality of opportunity for all with the right mix of talent, skills and potential. The Equality Act 2010 outlines the following nine protected characteristics under the Act: • Age • Disability • Gender re-assignment • Race • Religion and belief • Marriage and civil partnership • Pregnancy and maternity • Sexual orientation • Sex Our recruitment process gives applicants the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities regardless of their protected characteristic. The principles of equality of opportunity are applied consistently in all stages of the recruitment and selection process. Interviews will focus on the person specification, not on any disability which an applicant may have. Interviewing panels will consider they way in which adjustments would allow a person with a disability to be given equality of opportunity when assessed against the selection criteria.
