88487 - LGV Driving Instructor

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of LGV Driving Instructor, based in Inverness.

Job Description

To assist in providing an effective training and development service within the Driving Section to the Organisation and the staff employed. To plan, produce and implement instruction on Category C vehicles, Bronto, HIAB, 4 x 4 and Argo vehicles.

  • Provide practical and theoretical instruction to students attending driver training courses.
  • Assist with the compilation and updating of driver training notes and lecture presentations.
  • Responsible for the completion of all necessary course documentation for students.
  • Responsible for the day to day maintenance of driver training vehicles.
  • Notify vehicle faults to Service Workshops and be responsible for the recording of these.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the daily vehicle checks and relevant records are completed and recorded.
  • Liaise with Line Manager Training Delivery regarding course development and organisation of courses.
  • Undertake such personal development training as may be deemed necessary to meet the duties and responsibilities of the post.
  • Conduct work activities in a manner which conforms to current Health and Safety legislation, upholding the Service's Health and Safety Policy and to accept and carry out their responsibilities under the provision of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations.
  • Conduct work activities in a manner, which upholds the Service's Equal Opportunities Policy and the Fire Board's Race Equality Scheme

  • Skills & Experience

  • Registered as Approved Driving Instructor (LGV) with the Driving Standards Agency. Possession of a valid driving licence.
  • Knowledge of current learning and development programmes for LGV Instruction.
  • Knowledge of instruction programmes for HIAB, 4 x 4 and Argo vehicles.
  • Knowledge of selection process and requirements for students applying for courses.
  • Knowledge of establishing and facilitating quality recording systems for learning, development and testing.
  • A good understanding of the current and future issues facing the Service regarding driving.
  • Previous experience as an Instructor in Category C vehicles
  • Instructional experience in HIAB, 4 x 4 and Argo vehicles.
  • Evidence of interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of building and forming successful working relationships.
  • Evidence of building and forming successful working relationships across professional and operational boundaries.
  • Experience in staff supervision.
  • An ability to engender trust, confidence and personal creditability, demonstrating integrity in the provision of learning and development objectives with the role.
  • Ability to cope with pressure, meet deadlines and respond to changing demands.
  • Ability to use initiatives and work under minimum of supervision.
  • Have organisational skills and a logical, methodical approach to work.
  • Ability to demonstrate open, honest and fair behaviour when dealing with issues.

  • This is a contract position.

    The rate for this position is negotiable.
