On behalf of our client we are recruiting for an experienced Clerk of Works with Civil Engineer Bias

Job Role:

Reporting to the Construction Manager your Key Accountabilities will be:-

Assist the Construction Manager in the manage of civil and building works on site ensuring that all civil and building activities are undertaken safely and using best practice.
Review Contractors Method statement.
Ensure that the contractors complies with his stated working methods
Encourage positive safety behaviours in all of the work force
Ensure that good relations are created with the Contractor and assist in maintaining the highest standards of safety during all site operations
Maintain a comprehensive site diary as required by the Construction Manager
Monitor and report to the Construction Manager on all quality issues including the standard of materials being used and the workmanship being achieved.
Monitor the Contractor’s environmental performance and compliance with agreed procedures.
Contribute to site progress meetings and report on site civil and building issues.
Ensure that good relations are maintained with all Stakeholders
Provide early warning of issues that may result in claims from the Contractor
Maintain comprehensive records of changes unidentified during inspection and progress achieved


Key Competencies

Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety issues as they affect civil construction & building works
A good engineering background with the ability to communicate across engineering disciplines
Knowledge of structural and building works particularly as related to power plant construction
Knowledge of HVAC and fire protection systems would be an advantage
Meticulous in the maintenance of records
A basic competence in IT and the use of MS software packages will be required.
The candidate must have a thorough knowledge the civil construction & building industry as it relates to Power Plant construction.
The ability to influence the behaviour if other is required

Knowledge of methods for testing in-situ concrete and piling is essential

Knowledge of material specifications is an advantage.
