HR1216 - Accountant

We are currently recruiting for the position of Accountant, based in Inverness.

Job Description

  • Assist in the management of finance staff including motivation, training. Recruitment, career development and succession planning on a daily basis.
  • Complete all accounting and reporting in time with the financial calendar of the company and as required by legal regulation including statutory reporting, taxation and annual reports and accounts
  • Maintenance of records to satisfy compliance across the group, in particular to oversee operations in relations to accounting and taxation matters.
  • Monitor and report actual business performance relative to budget and forecast.
  • Work with Group Treasury management to plan ongoing facility requirements.
  • Manage the revenue expenditure request process including documentation, justification criteria and related authorisation procedures.
  • Ensure that all balance sheets are fully reconciled on a monthly basis, and agreed back to third party documentation.
  • Assist in preparation and production of annual budgets.
  • Draw to the attention of Group Financial Controller material financial risks as soon as possible as appropriate.
  • Comprehend and comply with Orion Group Business Management Systems and assist in their full implementation.
  • Assist in preparation of Group statutory accounts for audit and liaising with auditors during the annual audit.
  • Where appropriate, liaising direct with various governmental tax offices for reporting purposes, assistance and advice.
  • Maintenance of financial records for project accounting.
  • Liaising with Payroll Manager and satellite offices to ensure payroll compliance both domestically and overseas.
  • Preparation of reports for review by the Group Financial Director/Group Financial Controller and subsequent submission to the Bank on a regular basis within agreed timeframes.
  • Ensuring maximum efficiency with the accounts department with particular emphasis on the use of personnel. Referring any problems arising pertaining to staff to the Group Financial Controller.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Group Financial Controller/Director.

  • This is a permanent position.

    The salary for this position is negotiable.
