Eden Scott's client has a requirement for a Contracts Engineer for a staff role to be based in the South of Aberdeen.

To review and negotiate all contractual documents and assist with legal issues in the North Sea and Continental Europe Region.

1.To carry out contractual review as part of the tendering process. Review to cover all legal obligations - legal, risk, commercial and tax aspects

2.
Work with Country Managers, Product Line Managers and Tenders Team to improve the efficiency and quality of contract, tender submissions, pre-qualifications, client questionnaires and to monitor progress and performance of such where appropriate
3.Discuss and negotiate contractual exceptions with the Customer to ensure that the Company is entering into Contracts that adequately address the risk and reward equation in business.
4.Attend managers meetings to keep other members of the management team up-to-date with the latest issues in the Contracts department
5.Provide guidance and direction to Contracts Administrator to ensure the administration of the department is working efficiently
6.Liaise with Legal Counsel and other members of the legal team to ensure continuity in legal reviews and corresponding comments. Seek direction from the Corporate Legal Team on specific critical issues
7.Liaise with Legal Counsel and the other members of the Corporate Legal Team to ensure consistent use of and content of terms and conditions
8.Oversee the maintenance, updating and improvement as necessary, of a central database of all relevant contract documentation in order that all information relevant to contract can be retrieved in order to allow informed decisions to be made.
9To assist business development, sales and contract managers with any contract related issues including variation orders and dispute resolution
10To assist Legal Counsel with any legal matters in the region
11Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these.

The job holder will be expected to travel within the UK, Europe, and potentially further afield to discuss and negotiate contracts.

Willing to work out-side regular working hours to meet deadlines

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Degree in Law, Business or Management
Should be experienced in Contracts Review and negotiation
Commercial and Technical experience in the Oil & Gas Industry
Understanding of the main Liabilities and indemnities that are required to be included in the Company's Contracts
To understand the whole contracting process from a business perspective.

PERSONAL QUALITIES
Excellent communicator both written and verbal
Ability to work in a team and delegate responsibility
Able to take a balanced view
