This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join the IT Department within Dollar Academy.  The Academy, one of Scotland’s top boarding and day schools, is situated in a beautiful rural location, with excellent facilities open to pupils and staff alike.

Working as part of a small, but extremely busy customer-focused team, you will be responsible for supporting the Academy’s IT needs under the direction of our IT Manager.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake a varied and challenging role providing IT systems administration, troubleshooting/fault diagnosis and assisting with the development of the Academy’s entire IT fleet.

Essential Skills Required:

·         2 years+ experience working in an IT Systems Administration role.

·         Virtualisation (VMware, VSphere).

·         Windows Server 2003/2008.

·         Active Directory.

·         SAN/Unified Storage (EMC Celerra NX4 an advantage).

·         Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010.

·         Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010.

·         Networking architecture and troubleshooting.

·         Backup technologies (CA Arcserve an advantage).

Desirable Skills:

·         Microsoft TMG or Microsoft ISA 2006.

·         Microsoft IIS.

·         Microsoft SQL Server.

·         Mac OS X Server.

·         Programming in Visual Studio.

·         Use of IT and industry standard service management practices (ITIL preferred).

Your customer and communication skills will be second to none, as this is an extremely customer- focused role.

Salary

The salary for this post is £25,716 and is based on the Scottish Joint Council for Local Government Officers pay scales.

Hours

This is a full time, permanent post and normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. Occasional overtime may be required. This is not a teaching position and, although patterns of working will be affected by academic term dates, many tasks are best undertaken when normal classes are not in operation.

Pension

Our support staff may join the Local Government Superannuation Scheme, to which the Governors contribute the statutory level of Employer’s Contributions.

Holidays

Inclusive of Bank Holidays and other Public Holidays, the IT Systems Administrator will be entitled to 34 working days per calendar year, rising to 39 days after five years’ service, to be taken by arrangement with the IT Manager and subject to work commitments.

Sick Pay/Contractual Matters

A generous sick pay scale is available, and linked to length of service. Details of this, and all other contractual matters, are set out in the Contract of Employment for Support Staff, which will be issued to the successful candidate on appointment.

School Fees

Employees whose children attend the Academy are entitled to fee remission, and details will be made available to the successful candidate.

Disclosure Scotland

All appointments at Dollar Academy are subject to satisfactory clearance through the Disclosure Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme, and the successful candidate will be asked to make a formal application, the cost of which will be borne by the Academy.
