We are seeking applications for an Administrative Officer in the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland (MHTS). The primary role of the Tribunal is to consider and determine applications for compulsory treatment orders (CTOs) under the 2003 Act and to operate in an appellate role to consider appeals against compulsory measures made under the 2003 Act. The Tribunal also plays a monitoring role by periodic review of compulsory measures.

You will provide casework and clerking support to the work of the MHTS, a devolved tribunal, in its responsibility for ensuring the effective operation of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, in relation to the compulsory treatment and detention of patients.

This vacancy contributes towards the Scottish Government National Outcome: ‘We live our lives safe from crime, disorder and danger’. You must hold a minimum of five SCE Standard or Ordinary Grades including English and a subject which clearly indicates competency in figure work such as: Mathematics, Accounting and Finance, Arithmetic, Book-keeping, Statistics, Physics and Science. Please note that for Standard Grades, only grades 1, 2 and 3 are acceptable. For ordinary grades only grades A, B and C (1, 2 and 3) are acceptable. Other educational qualifications equivalent to these may also be acceptable. It is essential you have good team working skills, excellent communication skills as well as an ability to organise and prioritise your workload. You must also be comfortable working under pressure.

This is a 50 week, fixed term, pensionable appointment. New entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for the appointment will be invited to an interview.
