St Paul’s Primary is regarded as an ambitious and successful denominational school which is situated within East Calder. The Head Teacher has delegated management responsibility as an officer of West Lothian Council to lead the school in the context of legislation, council policies, procedures, guidance/advice and national policies, procedure and priorities. The Head Teacher will work in partnership with pupils, parents/guardians/carers, staff, other Council Services, external agencies, the local parish and wider community.
The Head Teacher will co-operate with cluster and area arrangements, ensuring effective support and transition to secondary school. It is expected that the Head Teacher will work with stakeholders in a consultative and empowering manner in order to set and achieve school objectives within national and local priorities, sustaining a process of continuous learning improvement.
The Head Teacher will develop, implement, monitor and review effective teaching and learning policies and procedures within the school in a climate which enables effective learning and teaching and promotes inclusion.
The post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
