SYHA Hostelling Scotland is the only youth hostelling network in Scotland with over 60 locations spread across the country. We are currently seeking to appoint an IT Helpdesk Assistant within our IT department based at our National Office in Stirling.
Duration: 1 year fixed term (with possible extension)
Hours: 36.25 per week
Main Duties: Providing first line support to users in National Office and across the Hostel network, ensuring efficient and effective administration and support of the IT infrastructure as well as maintaining the security and integrity of systems at all times. This would include, but not limited to, logging IT helpdesk calls, maintaining inventory, IT administration including monitoring of hardware, backup systems and system logs, basic troubleshooting and fault resolution on Windows desktop systems, installation of software, processing invoices and placing orders with suppliers.
There may also be an opportunity to gain experience in other areas such as server support, virtual technologies, firewalls and remote comms.
There may be occasions where onsite support will be required at hostels throughout Scotland including hostels at remote locations, and therefore a full driving licence is essential.
Due to the nature of the work and the need for systems maintenance, the post holder will also undertake out of hours on call rota to provide emergency support to hostels and SYHA IT systems.
Suitable for:
Someone who has either a background of working in IT or who has an interest in IT and is looking to gain experience of working in a busy department. Experience of desktop support and knowledge of hardware and software configuration and problem solving would be an advantage.
The post holder will have organisation skills with ability to prioritise work, as well as flexible approach to work to get the job done as well as being able to work under pressure. The job holder will also have ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.
HNC/D in Computing would be also an advantage.
