Purpose of the Job
This is a senior staff position. The post holder will have overarching control of all aspects of fluid power engineering across the entirety of the company's activities.
Experience/Qualifications Required
*Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
*Chartered Engineer
*Significant experience in fluid power system design
*Extensive and detailed knowledge of:
-Hydraulic circuit configuration (gained from experience in a wide range of different industries/applications including offshore and subsea)
-Fluid power circuit implementation: hoses, pipes, tubes, fittings, adaptors etc. following many different national standards (NPT, BSP, JIC, SAE, ISO, DIN, JIS etc.)
-Fluid power component selection from a wide variety of sources and industries (HP gas, pneumatics, water, LP/HP & VHP hydraulics, lube systems etc.)
*Detailed knowledge of electro-hydraulic interface techniques
*Use of 2D CAD to draw circuit diagrams to ISO1219 parts 1 & 2
*Familiar with the product ranges of major hydraulic equipment manufacturers and specialist suppliers

Key Areas of Responsibility
*Design and approval of hydraulic circuits, selection of components and evaluation of suppliers
*Generate, check and approve design reports and other technical documents for in-house and third party review
*Manage other team members in order to produce concept models, BOM's and drawings (layouts, assemblies, detail drawings etc)
*Perform, check and approve mathematical analysis to support the design process
*Monitor and review the construction and testing of prototypes
*Regular attendance at client facing meetings
*Manage all aspects of the design of fluid power systems and circuits with respect to the checking and approval of other engineers' work
*Implementing best practice in all areas of fluid power system design, construction, testing, installation and commissioning
*Extensive input to operation and maintenance procedures and documentation

Reporting/Working Relationships
Reports directly to the Senior Management team but will liaise with the Project Managers on a day-to-day basis.
The post holder will lead a small, multi-disciplinary team that includes hydraulic, mechanical, electrical/electronic and software engineers.
As a specialist technical authority and one of the most senior engineers within the company, you will have a direct role in the:
-Supervision, training, support and mentoring of graduate engineers
-Management of specialist subcontractors
-Continuous demonstration and of the highest standards of safety in the workplace
