Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer, the position will be directly responsible for preparing new project quotations, developing all technical customer proposals, and once the order is secured, take full responsibility for the project management of new customer projects from design through to full industrialisation in the designated production facility.

We are a leading automotive interior decorative plastic components specialist with operations in Europe and China. Our capabilities and processes are highly regarded by our global customers, many of whom consider us as strategically important, through leading technology and process capabilities.

As part of our strategy for continued growth we seek to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to work closely with our customers in Europe to develop new products, and co-ordinate and support their industrialisation.

The role will provide an excellent opportunity to expand your engineering and project management experience, and to apply this within a dynamic internationally based and customer-focused business.

Emphasis is placed on the successful candidate having a hands-on approach to engineering and good practical experience is necessary.  Business travel may be required.

Experience:

Experience of working in the automotive components industry is important, including a good understanding of the engineering design and industrialisation processes, tools and disciplines. Knowledge of the plastic engineering disciplines with injection moulding and painting processes knowledge would be a distinct advantage.

Equally skills and expertise are sought from the following areas, with the aptitude to acquire a working appreciation of other skills through structured training and development. These skills include:

3D CAD design

Plastic injection moulding and tool design

Plastic thermo forming

Screen printing

Spray painting/laser etching

Project and programme management                

To be successful in this role we are looking for candidates who demonstrate an ability to work as a close team, have the ability to apply their own initiative to improve the company and customer performance, but also values the success of the whole team over the success of any one individual.

Qualifications:

A highly energetic, self-motivated, and results-driven individual.  An ability to work as part of a culturally diverse globally driven engineering team will be an important personal quality.

Computer literacy, including the use of parametric design packages, is highly desirable.

General activities:

As part of the customer team, develop new product manufacturing opportunities alongside the sales organisation.

Develop a good understanding of the customer specification and requirements, and compile quotations in response to the customer specific RFQs.

For secured projects, take responsibility for the overall engineering support of the project, from supporting the design needs of the customer, through to final qualification of the product in production, using advanced project quality planning tools and systems (APQP), within agreed quality, cost and timing objectives.

Participate in customer presentations where required, helping to promote the capabilities of the company in Europe.

To perform additional tasks as deemed appropriate by the Engineering Manager - Europe, and which are consistent with the terms of this contract.
