Avenue Scotland are currently recruiting for an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to be responsible for the assessment, design, verification and validation of electrical and instrumentation requirements for a range of projects on a complex operational site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development, verification and validation of E&I design information to tight timescales in a challenging environment.

Complete site surveys, sub-contractor supervision and/or commissioning duties as appropriate. The work will include a significant level of presence on Client sites throughout the UK.

Generate costs associated with consultant, supervisor, sub-contractor and/or vendor activities to assist with preparing estimates, measuring claims and work related costs.

Advising on the costs of electrical and instrumentation elements of project works and ensuring that materials and/or services purchased offer value for money.

Liaise with vendors in the commissioning of instruments or equipment prior to start-up.

Managing the technical interfaces between the customer and vendors ensuring all project execution work is conducted in accordance with project/contract specifications

To take responsibility for the planning and managing the delivery of the electrical & instrument design engineering aspects through to commissioning and handover of projects

Develop and maintain operational relationships with the customer at all levels to ensure the success of ongoing projects

Undertake engineering work including, compiling design specifications and checking engineering drawings and documentation related to:-

oLV & HV Motor Control Centres
oLV & HV Distribution Networks
oControl Systems/Instrumentation

Provide E&I Input into the design & specification of PLC, SCADA and hardwired systems, interpreting electrical drawings-single line diagrams, motor schematics, lighting distribution drawings, etc., interpreting instrument specification, P&ID drawing, loop diagram, logic diagram, etc.

Health & Safety is a key driver. Management of health, safety and environmental standards in a petrochemical environment on a complex multi customer project.

Implementation of and ensuring compliance to project and site procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

Extensive electrical & instrumentation experience including:
oProcess instrumentation and measurement techniques
oHazardous Area requirements and ATEX certification
oElectrical and instrumentation circuit design
oSIL ratings and safety circuits
oDCS and ESD hardware wiring and configuration
oHV design and installation

The ability to produce engineering specifications and diagrams in isolation

Experience of industrial water/wastewater projects would be beneficial

Ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously working to deadlines and
budgets

Up to date knowledge of CDM requirements, Electricity at Work Act and BS7671

Experience of direct customer contact at various levels - customer focussed role

Computer literate - Word, Excel, Access, Project, Lotus Notes and Internet Explorer

Experience of CAD (AutoCAD preferred)

Good supervisory, communication and interpersonal skills combined with excellent client communication skills are required to enable projects to complete on time, within budget and to the correct specifications.

Ability to self-manage own workload and utilisation. Pro-active approach to minimise the cost of any potential non-productive works.

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Instrumentation discipline (Essential)
*Member of appropriate professional body (MIEE, MIET etc) (Essential)
*Health, Safety & Environmental Training
