We’re seeking applications for Business Support Officers. These are permanent roles based in either our Edinburgh or new Glasgow city centre offices. You will be joining our talented team of business support staff who provide first-class support to our professional audit teams and are the ‘face of Audit Scotland’ working within our front of house reception team.

ABOUT BUSINESS SUPPORT SERVICES
Business Support Services is a team of around 17 employees who work across our various business groups. The team delivers a shared services business support model covering general administration, secretarial, reception and other business support services (eg meeting secretariat, etc). The team’s vision is to create a ‘model of excellence’ for the business support services so that internal clients across the whole of Audit Scotland receive the most flexible, resilient and efficient service:
- flexible - so that we can best meet the needs of each business group even when they are experiencing their most busy periods;
- resilient - by training and developing the whole team so that more people have the knowledge and skills to deliver support during peak demand times and holiday periods, and
- efficient - so that we can demonstrate value for money and improved operational performance at a reduced overall level of cost.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We have vacancies based at either our offices in George Street, Edinburgh or our proposed new office in Glasgow city centre (The Athenaeum Building, Nelson Mandela Place - close to Glasgow Queen Street and Glasgow Central rail stations).
You will join a busy Business Support Services team – either within one of our client facing business groups or our central front of house reception team. You can expect to move between business groups as part of your personal development on a planned basis and in order to provide cover for colleagues as and when necessary. This all makes for an interesting and varied role which will help you with your longer term career aspirations. You should read the job description carefully before applying.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Firstly, we’re not asking that you have a deep understanding of the world of audit or that you have even worked in the public sector before. Instead it’s your personal skills, strengths and acquired experience of working within a similar role providing professional business support that is important here – whatever business sector you’ve worked in before.
In order to be successful in this role, we draw the following requirements to your attention from the person specification:
- At least 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including maths and english.
- At least 12 months experience of working in an administrative, secretarial, business support or front of house reception role.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (or equivalent packages).
- Able to organise your own workload and prioritise accordingly.
- Flexible and able to work on more than one task at a time.
- Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
