A great opportunity has arisen to join an organisation in East Lothian as a Purchasing Manager. This is a stand-alone role where you will work closely with a number of different stakeholders throughout the organisation in order to develop strong relationships particularly in planning and improving procurement practices. You will also be responsible for the management and development of the stores department.


Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with all departments on procurement to ensure that detailed specifications are prepared to support the tendering process.
  • Lead role in negotiations.
  • Stock management replacement and reordering Working closely with Departments to ensure appropriate levels of tendering/negotiations are carried out.
  • Reviewing with users the high cost areas to ensure that the appropriate levels of contract arrangements are in place,
  • Reporting and analysing trends on levels of tendering and confirmations
  • Managing local supplier base including regular visits, quality/service reviews Issuing and receiving tendering for capital work


    • Key Skills and Experience required

  • CIPS Qualification or studying towards CIPS would be beneficial
  • Full end-to-end purchasing experience is essential
  • Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing a small team would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Experience driving and implementing improved standards in procurement practices
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
