An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join a pro-active and forward thinking development team based in Edinburgh.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team that specialise in design and development of high performance sub-systems, the Engineer will be part of a team which undertake a wide range of projects across a full engineering product life cycle which includes applied research, product design, product development, integration and production support into a range of legacy products.

Responsible for Engineering and Technical aspects of RF and receiver circuitry, the Engineer will have experience within one or more of the following areas:

  • Applied RF research
  • RF design and development of systems, sub-systems and components
  • RF sub-system and component analysis
  • RF design for production
  • RF design support for manufacturing
  • RF development test and design verification
  • Technical support to sub-contractors and engineering
  • Technical support to projects and customers

Educated to degree level in Electronic Engineering or related science (i.e. Physics), the Engineer will have specialisation in high frequency circuits and receiver techniques supported by appropriate fundamental elements.

Essentially, the Engineer will have electronic skills compatible with their degree. Experience at a Senior level in design of RF/Microwave circuits and sub-systems is also essential which will include experience in one of more of the following: 

  • RF
  • ADC
  • RF DAC
  • DDS
  • PLL
  • Active/passive RF/microwave design
  • RF filters
  • RF PCB
  • RF/microwave down conversion and up conversion
  • Synthesiser architecture or receiver architecture 

Additional experiences with ECAD tools, Agilent ADS, AWR Microwave office, Agilent system vue or Matlab/Simulink would be advantageous.
