PROJECT PLANNER

BASED ROSYTH - PERMANENT ROLE TO £30-34,500 / WILL ALSO CONSIDER CONTRACTORS FOR SHORT/MEDIUM TERM ASSIGNMENTS

Headquartered in Fife, but with bases and operations across the UK, Edgar Stewart's client is part of a well known blue chip engineering support services organisation. They have identified significant opportunities for growth in support of the UK oil and gas and renewable energy market. They are looking to grow their Commercial Department by recruiting an experienced Project Planner. This is a permanent role, but our client will also consider people on contract in the short to medium term.

Reporting into senior management, the Project Planner will support the creation and maintenance of project schedules. You will develop and amend long term, medium and short terms plans in conjunction with the project management team, and provide a basis for monitoring, improving and controlling projects. Other core responsibilities should include:

  • Assist in the development and communication of the Planning Strategy for the project.
  • Develop the WBS required for the project, taking cognisance of Lessons Learned and liaising with other Managers to continually improve the WBS for follow-on projects.
  • In conjunction with the Project managers, determine the number of schedules required for the project.
  • Liaise with Estimating Team in the Pre-planning and Bid Preparation phase.
  • Develop the Time and Resource analysed Project Schedule.
  • Update the Project Schedule weekly to reflect progress achieved.
  • Maintain the Project Schedule to reflect new work.
  • Produce Management Information, from the Project Schedule, to meet the agreed time scales.

    • An expert in the use of appropriate scheduling software, for instance MS Project, you have experience of supporting the development of commercial projects from concept, through development, to commercial readiness, and subsequent successful production, installation and commissioning. This role will suit Project Planners from an engineering background, and you should have a good appreciation of Primavera.
