Hudsons client is recruiting for a newly / recently qualified accountant to join the Group Finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone making their first move out of practice. It will give you exposure to a Group Finance function, meaningful monthly and quarterly reporting and senior stakeholder relationships.
You should be ambitious, enthusiastic and looking to contribute to a team, gain experience and move upwards. Team fit is key. The team are really polished, very approachable, positive in their outlook and would champion you in your future career development.
Day to day areas of responsibility will include:
Flash reporting - reducing data and briefing notes to data, that is consistent and useful (with highlighted areas for quick reference)
Month end accounting - rationalising the process form 4 weeks to 2 weeks, ensuring the numbers really add up
Variance analysis and communication, understanding what the numbers/commentary mean, the story behind them
Provision of financial information for the reporting pack, Ensure technical accuracy
Development of financial policy
Development of insight into the reporting pack and commentary
The team has an extremely professional and positive outlook, it has created an environment of collaboration and genuinely gives an opportunity for you to contribute to shaping the output of the function. The manager of the team is keen that anyone who joins, has valuable input into development of the way information is reported in the pack and to the value that it adds to the board. You should be able to build up an understanding of each of the business units, build relationships with senior stakeholders, understand the trends and impact on the business drivers so that you understand the story behind it, and are able to highlight relevant areas within the reports.
You should be well presented, credible, articulate, corporate and personable. The ideal character for team fit will be someone enthusiastic, not looking to follow a task list, but looking for a bit of autonomy to shape their own role. Good communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with the business. You should be an aspiring individual who wants to understand the role then move upwards, either within the team or within the wider business.
