Job: Mechanical Estimating Assistant

First People Solutions are currently recruiting for an Estimating Assistant to join a specialist structural steel design and build contractor based in the Loanhead area of Edinburgh.

Due to an increase in workload and business forecasts, our client is looking to recruit an Assistant Estimator to join the team.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be career focused and looking for a career position in construction estimating. A training and development programme will be offered for the right individual

The Role

Duties

  • Read understand and quantify material aspects within documents send out quotation requests to suppliers ensure quotes are received back in time for estimating director. Prepare quotations for approval
  • Read quantify and understand works elements of sub-contractors send out quotation requests and ensure these are received back at agreed date to allow estimating director to complete bids.
  • Compile and present additional information requested to be submitted with bids. Extend a comprehensive library of this type of information for future bids.
  • Fulfil general admin duties associated with tenders
  • On completion of tender return compile in relevant order all aspects submitted to the client and file for future reference.
  • If tendered works are won file shall be reactivated and assembled to pass to contracts department with all financial information laid out ready for commencement.
  • Negotiate with suppliers / sub-contractors
  • Format files and quotations as required for handover at award stage
  • Prepare reports for Estimating Director
