An Assistant Manager has the drive to achieve results and to ensure that those working with them, work together to achieve them. They will seek opportunities to improve the skills, their own and the wider teams and to ensure all work meets quality standards and provides value to clients. The role requires someone who has excellent technical knowledge and the requisite people skills to lead manage and develop an effective accounts team. Overview of the Role You will be employed in the Audit/Accounts team to manage the professional work associated with a portfolio of clients that will include audit and non audit clients. You will also be responsible for line managing junior members of the team. You will be a key part of contributing towards a positive culture in the firm which is current being developed as part of our “Glasnost” project. Responsibilities - You will be responsible for controlling the professional work required on a range of audit and accounts jobs meeting all internal, client based and legislative deadlines. - You will be responsible for ensuring that the firm’s standard processes are used in the production of audit and accounts work in all aspects and for ensuring that technical standards are maintained, as well as being able to answer technical questions. - You will be responsible for the management of the team working on jobs within your portfolio. You will plan and review work to be undertaken on client matters by team members and you will be responsible for its review and progress through the practice. - You will be responsible for ensuring that the work planner is used and that jobs are recorded and staffed using it. You will ensure that client handling partners are regularly kept fully informed on the progress of the work areas for which you are responsible. - You are expected to review the work of others, having a detailed understanding of the risks and issues, ensuring complete information is obtained to make effective decisions. - Provide timely practical advice and solutions to clients and colleagues to problems. - You will be expected to achieve a chargeable time percentage of 85% to 90% per annum. - You will be expected to professionally represent the firm at all times and you will be encouraged to develop business through networking events. - You will be expected to keep your technical knowledge and personal development skills up to date. - You will be expected to supervise and develop more junior members the team. - You will be expected to develop good relationship with clients. - You will be expected to seek opportunities to increase client billings. - You will be expected to develop an excellent working knowledge of the systems required for your role having detailed working knowledge of IRIS and be our “champion”. - You will also become involved with any other ad hoc projects e.g. corporate finance type projects, business growth/improvement projects as required. Develop a culture of trust with both the team and with clients. - Create a culture of continuous improvement, convince others to have ideas, as well as encouraging and enthusing them to come up with imaginative solutions to difficult problems. - Mentor, counsel, coach and support those of less experience, including individuals who are not confident in their area of competence, building morale and personal confidence and generally encouraging others to give their best performance.
