Office Angels are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an Accounts Assistant. This is a Full-Time role located in Edinburgh City Centre. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 09:00AM-17:30PM. Salary 20,000 - 25,000k per annum plus benefits.

Job Description:

This is a key position within the Finance Processing Team of our successful role comprises of control and compliance activities which are essential to the effective running of the business & reports to the Financial successful candidate would be required to work for a period of time in Northampton (approximately three months) during the transfer of duties from Northampton to Edinburgh.

General Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Billing of all company revenue in line with contracted rates
  • Credit control and initial point of contact for customer queries
  • Maintain the cash books and send out a daily cash report to senior management
  • Ensuring royalty and community benefit calculations meet contracted agreements
  • Preparation of calculation statements for royalties and community benefits and issue to landowners and community representatives
  • Inputting journals and other transactions as required into the accounting systems
  • Resolving royalty and community benefits queries from landowners and internal stakeholders
  • Enter purchase invoices onto the purchase ledger
  • Reconcile supplier accounts
  • Liaise with suppliers in dealing with their queries
  • Allocate invoices and payments on SUN Accounting System
  • Update and maintain supplier details
  • Raise creditor journals as required and enter onto creditors ledger
  • Undertake creditor ledger account analysis as and when required
  • Produce weekly payment runs
  • Payroll posting and bonus accruals
  • Operations and Maintenance cost accounting for turbines and sites
  • Standing charges such as rates, import power and water & services charges
  • Asset transfers, disposals and being responsible for the depreciation budget
  • Performing month-end activities in accordance with procedures and timescales
  • Prepare month end reporting slides for the above management review, reporting on variances where applicable
  • Balance sheet reconciliations for the above
  • Personal flexibility to support other activities, as and when required, including, for example, VAT and Corporation Tax

Experience, Skills, Attributes Required:

  • As the successful candidate will undertake an intensive three month training period, after which they will be expected to be reasonably self-sufficient, the candidate must be a quick learner and flexible
  • Minimum AAT qualified
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrable challenging and influencing capability
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to pick up and drive process and system development
  • Will take pride in accuracy of work and timeliness of delivery
  • Ability to multi task, prioritise work and work to deadlines
  • Ability to work with high volumes of data and highly numerate
  • Logical approach to work
  • Demonstrable customer/supplier-facing experience (Preferable)
  • Experience with SUN systems and Proactis (Preferable)
