Who we are looking for:
An excellent training opportunity has arisen for an AAT or accountancy degree qualified Accounts Assistant who is looking for a varied and interesting role. This position will provide a range of support to the existing team of qualified and trainee staff. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a good mix of accounts experience, preferably from a practice background, looking to build upon their skills in a friendly environment whilst continuing progress through their qualifications.
The company is interested in candidates looking to become ACCA qualified as they are willing to provide study support and develop your skills in accounts to help you achieve this.
You will be responsible for assisting a team of Chartered Accountants with the preparation of client accounts, including ledger maintenance
You will help to prepare year end Statutory Accounts and periodic management accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities across various sectors
You will be responsible for helping to prepare self-assessment, VAT and corporation tax returns as required
You will ensure compliance with relevant procedures and processes and maintain evidence as required
You will be involved in projects to enhance the service provided to clients
Key skills required
Good level of accounting knowledge and experience
Ability to prepare accurate financial information
Knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
Ability to work under pressure
A proactive, flexible approach to work
Competent, decisive and well organised with excellent interpersonal skills
Able to work as part of a team and under your own initiative
Alongside other members of staff, participate in the smooth running of a small but busy office, demonstrating a willingness to help out.
Experience of preparing statutory financial statements
Recent experience in a practice environment involving working with financial statements
- Specific experience of using accounting software systems such as Sage and Xero
Experience of preparing self-assessment, VAT and corporation tax returns
Experience of preparing charity accounts and familiarity with the charity SORP
Experience in the renewable energy sector.
