We are currently looking to recruit a full-time Business Analyst for our Finance team. This role would ideally suit a part-qualified accountant who is looking to build upon their experience in business analysis and management accounting.
To source, maintain and analyse data to provide management information to the business to enable an understanding of historic performance and to inform forward planning and decision-making. To maintain, and develop, accounting control routines to enable a robust internal control platform. The role sits in a team of 3, reporting to the Finance Manager, within a wider Finance team which includes separate roles for transaction processing (cash control, purchase ledger, sales ledger).
Key areas and outputs
Financial support to agreed business areas
Provide forward looking financial information to assigned teams to support decision making
Provide financial and commercial insight to assist operating teams
Assist assigned teams in closure of month end accounts, including interrogation of account codes to provide analyses to the teams
Work with assigned teams to improve routine accou8nting, control and operating processes, for example in stock accounting
Preparation of analyses of data for assigned teams as required
To become a great partner to the assigned teams, with support and backing of Team Leader
Accounting, reporting and controls
Routine accounting required in advance of preparation of monthly accounts pack
Key reconciliation and other balance sheet controls
Maintain appropriate processes for accounting information (approval documentation, journals, reconciliations, etc)
Preparation of monthly accounts pack with supporting analysis as required
Preparation of inputs to VAT returns, corporate tax returns and for statutory accounts preparation
Budgeting and forecasting
Preparation of annual budget for assigned teams and assistance in compilation of aggregated budget and production of the budget pack
Understand the key drivers within the assigned teams including the impact of changes in business levels on performance, the integration of this into forecasts and assistance in preparation of this as required
Benchmarking of performance against industry profiles
Other ad hoc accounting tasks and routines as required to include assistance with provision of data to other statutory bodies
Required skills and experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or another relevant discipline
Some relevant accounting / commercial experience, possibly part professionally qualified or AAT qualified
The role would suite a candidate who is wishing to learn and develop , on the role itself and through additional accounting training
