Assistant Manager - Pricing & Forecasting

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Pricing & Forecasting Manager with an understanding of mortgages, loans and financial services to join a leading business in Edinburgh on a permanent basis.


The successful candidate will join a small team, during an exciting period of growth and play an important role in creation, management and pricing of the Mortgages product range. Supporting the delivery of market share targets in the annual and 5 year plans. Delivering sales, new lending, further advance lending, retention lending, margin, return, & risk targets.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of the commercial and trading MI for acquisition and backbook
  • Managing delivery of changes to Standard Variable Rate for the Mortgage business across all stakeholders.
  • Managing delivery of changes to the product range for new lending, further advances & retention products across all stakeholders.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders, communicating & interlocking changes with internal & external stakeholders, including sales force, brokers & 3rd party suppliers.
  • Developing & embedding clear governance processes that all product & pricing changes follow, creating and following process flows with appropriate controls & hand off / hand ins.
  • Undertaking appropriate post implementation testing & checks on sourcing systems etc .
  • Undertaking analyst to support pricing recommendations and building a deep understanding of backbook profit pools, segment & channel profitability.
  • Developing & implementing performance reporting (Daily, Weekly & Monthly) for volume and P&L commitments, including customer numbers, balances, business mix, income, costs, profit and product performance.
  • Providing support in the annual and 5 year reforecasts process/cycle?
  • Embracing conduct, operational & regulatory risk management as a key responsibility in role.
  • Deputising for Pricing Manager and / or Forecasting & Planning Manager, as appropriate.

Desired Experience:

The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge in product/commercial management, risk management, management information or customer analysis as well as a solid knowledge and understanding of retail credit products.

Desirable experience includes;

  • Knowledge of financial environment with excellent analytical skills - highly numerate.
  • SAS or equivalent skills preferable (Strong Excel skills essential)
  • Mortgage knowledge preferable.
  • Demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically.
  • Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
  • Well organised and able to prioritise multiple pressing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • An innovative, creative approach to problem solving.
  • Customer focused, with an ability to understand customer need.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written communication with developed report writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level.
  • Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
