Competitive Salary

Trainline is the leading online independent rail retailer in Europe, providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ for rail travel across 22 countries and 36 train operators. We strive for smarter travel, and our goal is to save customers time, money and hassle.  We have had consistent year-on-year sales growth since our inception in 1997, and we continue to accelerate consumer growth in excess of 20% year-on-year.

Our culture is central to our success and to delivering our business goals.  To keep us agile, our executive team sits out on the floor, where it’s all happening, making for a more fluid, collaborative style of working. Our drive to keep ahead of the curve means we’re working closely (literally!) to turn our ideas into reality. It’s this sense of pace, this hive of activity, that makes Trainline so unique. Together, we look for innovation and improvement in pretty much everything we do. It’s something of a habit.

Responsibilities

As Business Process Manager, you will work as part of a small, dedicated transformation team to support the development of our new back office platform. Your key focus will be to review, overhaul and enhance business and accounting processes eliminating all manual procedures or work arounds where possible whilst understanding how the overall programme will impact the business from an accounting and financial control perspective. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and contributing to the design and implementation of the back office transformation programme ensuring that accounting and controls requirements are fully represented
  • Developing, understanding and documenting Trainline’s systems, business processes, and accounting interfaces end to end from a financial perspective
  • Ensuring that existing Accounting Control systems and processes are appropriate, kept up to date, are working and meet internal and external audit requirements
  • Contributing to the design, implementation and roll out of comprehensive and auditable financial controls for both new projects and systems modifications

Qualifications

You’ll be a qualified accountant with broad commercial experience who enjoys working in a fast moving and rapidly changing, highly demanding environment. Most importantly, you’ll be used to designing and implementing business processes in your day job, and will be seasoned in translating Finance into English for those outside of Finance, explaining the impact of changes such as these on their business. Other key experience we’re looking for include:

  • A qualified accountant with +5 years PQE
  • Experience in identifying and documenting systems and business process flows
  • An understanding and capability to design financial control processes
  • A successful track record in the implementation of new systems
  • An ability to reduce complex bespoke systems to basic and simple processes driving change as appropriate to improve the efficiency of Finance
  • Strong communication skills – able to translate the technical control systems requirements of Finance to the wider business
  • High end presentation skills, experience with Visio and advanced use of Excel
