Nova Innovation Ltd (Nova) is a successful tidal technology company based in Edinburgh. We design, build and operate tidal energy devices.
The strength of the team and our capability is demonstrated by our successful deployment of the world’s first community owned tidal device in 2014 and the world’s first offshore tidal array in 2016.
In addition to further UK opportunities, we have received interest from around the world for our technology, including South America, Asia, France and Canada.
The growing worldwide interest in tidal energy along with Nova’s recent project funding wins promises a very exciting future for this innovative company.
We currently are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our Finance department.
The successful candidate will be a qualified CCAB or CIMA accountant with 1 – 3 years post qualification experience in an SME.
The Finance Manager will work closely with the Finance team ensuring up to date and accurate Management and Statutory accounting information is prepared and communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
Primary duties will include:
Ensuring accurate and up to date information is held within the accounting system
Preparing project budgets
Managing the Finance Assistant
Preparing Management Accounts and other relevant management information
Maintaining the fixed asset register
Preparing and submitting VAT returns and resolving VAT queries
Cash flow forecasting
The preparation of grant claims
Managing the outsourced payroll process and company pension scheme
Resolving supplier/customer queries escalated by the Finance Assistant
Assisting with financial aspects of contract negotiations and project proposals
Managing the annual statutory audit process
Being a “superuser” for an ERP system
We would expect applicants to have the following attributes:
Qualified Accountant with strong finance management experience in an SME
Meticulous attention to detail
Competent with Microsoft Office Software
Comfortable learning new systems
Able to manage own workload and prioritise tasks
Highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Self-motivated, disciplined and able to thrive in a dynamic environment
It would be advantageous if applicants had:
A keen interest in the renewable energy sector
Knowledge of corporation tax and employee taxation matters
Track record of working with tight budgets

This position is full time. The salary is negotiable depending on experience. A matched employer pension contribution of up to 5% is also available. Annual holidays are 25 days per annum plus public holidays.
