EPAD Sponsorship Manager

Clinical Research Governance

£32,004 – £38,183

An opportunity has arisen for a project specific Sponsorship Manager to work in the College of Medicine.

The EPAD project is a major European publicly and privately funded project, taking an innovative approach to developing a research platform through which pharmaceutical companies and not-for-profit organisations can test interventions that may modify the course of Alzheimer’s, and delay or prevent the onset of dementia.

The project involves a series of research activities; identifying subjects from existing observational cohort studies that may be at risk of developing Alzheimer’s; actively screening and consenting subjects to participate in a Longitudinal Cohort Study (LCS) to identify the risk factors for developing dementia; identifying participants in this LCS at a very early stage of Alzheimer’s dementia where intervention is anticipated to have the most benefit; and developing a platform to efficiently test and screen novel approaches to delaying or preventing the onset of Alzheimer’s dementia at this very early stage of the disease.

Those deemed to be at risk of Alzheimer’s dementia will be invited to join an EPAD cohort of at risk subjects. The project will select around 1500 people from this cohort to take part in early stage drug trials designed to prevent Alzheimer’s dementia. The cohort research and early stage clinical trials are sponsored by the University of Edinburgh.

Enthusiastic and dynamic, you will be the first point of contact for the EPAD Consortium, EPAD Project Managers, Sites, and academic and clinical researchers. You will manage the sponsorship responsibilities, oversee activities of third party providers, including Contract Research Organisations, undertaking review of trials, ensuring each project is risk assessed and planned accordingly.

You will have a life sciences degree, experience in clinical trials, working knowledge of GCP, regulatory and research governance concepts. Experience of clinical project management is desirable.
